Travis Landon Barker is an American drummer who is a member of the rock band Blink-182. He has also worked frequently with hip-hop artists, is a member of the rap-rock band Transplants, founded the rock bands +44 and Box Car Racer, and later joined Antemasque and Goldfinger. Barker worked frequently with the late DJ AM, and the two formed TRV$DJAM. Because of his celebrity, Rolling Stone dubbed him “punk’s first superstar drummer” and one of the 100 greatest drummers of all time.

Early Life
Travis Landon Barker was born on November 14, 1975, in Fontana, California. He was raised by his mother Gloria (a babysitter), father Randy (a mechanic), and two older sisters. Barker’s mother gave him a drum kit when he was four years old, and he began lessons the following year. Travis also learned to play the trumpet and the piano in junior high, and he briefly sang in a choir. He considered becoming a pro surfer or skater, but he felt that playing the drums was the best way for him to express himself. Barker’s mother passed away from Sjögren syndrome just before his first day of high school. Travis was a self-described stoner who marched in the marching band and played drums in the marching band at Fontana High School.

Barker spent his high school years in the band Snot and Feeble before joining the Aquabats, a ska-punk band founded by Feeble bandmate Chad Larson in 1996. Travis released one album with the Aquabats and toured with Blink-182; when Blink-182’s drummer left the band, Barker filled in and eventually became the band’s permanent drummer in 1998. Barker’s first album with Blink-182 was released in June 1999, and the band rocketed to stardom thanks to the singles “All The Small Things,” “What’s My Age Again?” and “Adam’s Song.” “All the Small Things” hit number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the video won an MTV Video Music Award.
In the fall of 1999, the band embarked on an arena tour, but Travis was forced to miss several dates due to a broken finger. Barker has released five more albums with Blink-182: “Take Off Your Pants and Jacket” in 2001, “Blink-182” in 2003, “Neighborhoods” in 2011, “California” in 2016, and “Nine” in 2019.
Travis began performing with the Transplants, a rock/rap supergroup formed by Tim Armstrong of Rancid, in 2002 and appeared on four of their albums. Travis Barker and DJ AM Plane Crash
On September 19, 2008, while taking off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, South Carolina, a private plane carrying Travis, Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM), security guard Che Still, and personal assistant Chris Baker crashed into an embankment and exploded. Still, Baker, and two pilots were killed, and Barker and Goldstein were taken to Augusta, Georgia’s Joseph M. Still Burn Center. Barker, who had burns on more than 65 per cent of his body, underwent 27 surgeries and skin grafts during his four-month stay in burn centres and hospitals.
