We may not be able to spend every moment with our families today, but I know You, Lord, are always with them. Keep them safe today and allow them to glorify You in the future. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for renewing our hearts and minds. Thank You for sending Your Spirit to us so that we could show Your love to our families. We also thank You for providing us with our loved ones.
But, God, we also admit that we are not always the peacemakers You want us to be. Our families have disagreements and fights from time to time. Sometimes we let anger, strife, and bitterness rule our hearts, and as a result, we end up hurting our families. We beg You, loving Father, to forgive us for our crimes against our own families. Change our hearts so that they are truly loving.
Allow us, Father God, to extend the same forgiveness to those in our families whom we have harmed. Lord, humble us so that we may seek forgiveness without pride. We pray that You will also heal the wounds in their hearts. Touch their hearts so they will accept our requests for forgiveness. Amen.
Thanking God for Family
God, we are grateful for the good times we have with our families. Thank You for allowing us to spend time together. Thank You for allowing us to spend time with them every day.
Father, protect our good relationships whenever we are with our beloved families. Let there be peace in our homes and compassion in each of our hearts. Teach us what it means to feel genuine joy and allow us to demonstrate it to one another.
Lord, You are our Prince of Peace and the Keeper of our Souls. May You constantly remind us to be peacemakers, particularly within our families. Protect us from hateful thoughts, and do not let us be the source of chaos in our homes. Every day, guide us as we walk through life with our families, wherever we may be. Prayer for When You Hurt Each Other
Thank You, Father, for family. You tell us that being alone is bad for us, so you’ve surrounded us with people who have an impact on our lives and move us away from the loneliness of solitude. “The Lord is my strength and my song,” says Exodus 15:2. We must keep in mind that our family is not responsible for our happiness. They are not responsible for the state of our hearts and souls. They cannot control how we feel, nor can they enter our minds to comprehend the depth of our emotions.
When we are misunderstood or misunderstood by a family member, we feel helpless to argue our case. Help us to remember Exodus 15:2. You are our strength. The inability to filter our thoughts is a signal to surrender them to You. Please help us to be patient when You respond with silence. Inspire us to remember who You say we are through the power of Your Holy Spirit.
Thank You for providing the comfort of family. A mother and father’s warm embrace, siblings, and extended family. Something about being related makes it easier for us to trust other people. When and if that trust is broken due to abuse or abandonment, we pray for your physical protection as well as Your guardianship over our hearts and minds. Allow us to seek Your assistance and counsel, as well as that of others who have been trained to assist us in avoiding danger and harm. Anyone who intends to harm us or abuse us is not someone You want us to spend time with.
We confess all the words we wish we could change. Because of Adam and Eve’s error in the garden, our sinful nature can lead us down wrong paths and into mistakes we had no intention of making. However, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we are forgiven over and over when we confess to You in the name of our Savior. Help us to extend the same compassion to those who test our hearts and patience. Bless us with patience and wisdom, with the desire to seek You first and to speak kindness. When we are wrong, convict us and strengthen our resolve to apologize.
Hurt within families can permanently damage relationships. But with Your help, anything and everyone can be restored. You are our savior. We find peace in You. Our faith is in You. And when we let go and let You determine the path, our faith can pull us across any divide. “When these things begin to take place,” Luke says, “stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near” (Luke 21:5-28). Jesus is on his way. That is without a doubt. We want to follow Him closely and intently until He returns to take us home or we return to Him in heaven.
It’s easy to become bitter in the midst of conflict and pain. Miscommunication can provide justification for severing a relationship like a dead tree branch. Payback and comebacks play over and over in our heads. The cycle of vindication continues. But God, You tell us to concentrate on You. Allow the world to explain itself, but first allow us to listen to You.
God, You are present in the agony we can’t bear, don’t understand, and want to flee. Hold us and assist us. Allow us to sit in silence for long periods of time until we are certain You have inspired our choice of words. Encourage our hearts to forgive and to pray for those who disagree with us. Bless those who have harmed us, and help us to be a blessing in Your Name. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Family is Special and Important
While we may disagree, nothing is more important than family. Being a part of a family means being a part of something special. It indicates that you will love and be loved for the rest of your life. So it’s critical to strengthen those bonds with prayer and the Heavenly Father.
