PewDiePie formally known as Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg is a Swedish YouTuber best known for his Let’s Play videos and comic structured videos and shows. Kjellberg has become one of the most well-known online celebrities and content providers thanks to his popularity on YouTube and widespread media coverage. In the media, he has been characterized as a YouTube figurehead and as being practically synonymous with YouTube gaming. Early Life and Education
PewDiePie was born in Gothenburg on October 24, 1989, and grew up there as well. He grew up with his elder sister, Fanny, and was born to Lotta Kristine Johanna (née Hellstrand, 1958) and Ulf Christian Kjellberg (born 1957). In 2010, his mother, a former chief information officer (CIO), was voted Sweden’s CIO of the Year. His father works in the corporate world.
Kjellberg then moved on to the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg to study industrial economics and technology management but dropped out in 2011. While it was previously claimed that he left Chalmers to concentrate on his YouTube career, Kjellberg confirmed in 2017 that he departed due to a loss of interest in his course of study. He stated that leaving education to pursue a YouTube career would be “fucking stupid” in general.
PewDiePie has also expressed a likeness for Adobe Photoshop, stating that he would rather work on photo manipulation art with the application than go to school. After leaving Chalmers, he pursued this desire by entering Photoshop contests and coming close to landing an apprenticeship at a prestigious Scandinavian advertising firm. He also wanted to make YouTube videos, so when he didn’t get the apprenticeship, he sold limited edition prints of his manipulated photographs to fund the purchase of a computer to work on YouTube films.
Marriage and Personal Life
On August 19, 2019, Kjellberg married his long-time Italian girlfriend Marzia Bisognin. In 2011, Bisognin introduced the two through a mutual friend, and after forming an online relationship, Kjellberg travelled to Italy to see her. Before settling in Brighton and Hove, England, the couple travelled between Sweden and Italy. Kjellberg claimed that they relocated to the United Kingdom in July 2013 because they wanted to be closer to the sea and have better Internet access. He claims he likes living in Brighton and Hove because he can live in relative privacy.
Felix was inspired to go to Japan after visiting the nation in 2018, and he bought a home and announced his plan the following year. Because of Japan’s restrictive relocation restrictions in reaction to the COVID-19 outbreak, the move was postponed. With a 5-year business visa, Kjellberg and his wife relocated to Japan in 2022.
In October 2019, PewDiePie declared that he is “more apolitical than anything” and that he is “somewhere in between” left-wing and right-wing politics. Kjellberg declared himself an agnostic atheist in June 2014.

Kjellberg, who was born and raised in Gothenburg, started his YouTube channel “PewDiePie” in 2010, where he predominantly posted Let’s Play videos of horror and action games. In the years thereafter, his channel has grown significantly in popularity, becoming one of the fastest-growing in 2012 and 2013, and the most subscribed on YouTube on August 15, 2013. His programming has evolved to include vlogs, comedy clips, formatted shows, and music videos, among other things. From 2015 to 2018, his programming turned away from Let’s Play and became increasingly polarizing in the media.
PewDiePie was overtaken as the most-subscribed YouTube channel in 2019 after a public rivalry with Indian record label T-Series. His channel is currently the fourth most subscribed on YouTube, but it is still the most subscribed YouTube channel owned by an individual. From December 29, 2014, until February 14, 2017, Kjellberg’s channel was the most viewed on YouTube, and it is now the 25th most-viewed and the sixth among those owned by an individual.
