In a shocking incident, a Cambodian woman named Lim Sokleap, aged 30, has been arrested for attempting to commit m*rder after catching another woman with her Nigerian boyfriend.
Sokleap, who works as a casino croupier, allegedly attacked the victim, a 27-year-old karaoke worker, after discovering her with Sokleap’s boyfriend, Chali, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The confrontation occurred on August 9, 2024, when Sokleap visited Chali’s condominium in the Russey Keo district. Upon seeing her boyfriend with the other woman, Sokleap’s jealousy triggered a violent outburst.
She is reported to have grabbed a meat cleaver and threatened to harm the victim, demanding that she return money allegedly given to her for engaging in s*xual activities with Chali. The Nigerian man intervened, preventing the situation from escalating further.
Sokleap later instructed the victim to leave the apartment at midnight. However, the event was recorded and shared on social media, which led to an investigation. Sokleap was arrested on September 12, 2024, after police traced her from the video footage and reports that surfaced online.
This incident highlights the emotional turmoil that unfolded as Sokleap had been in a long-term relationship with Chali, but the couple had been living apart due to their different work locations.
Sokleap, upon her arrest, confessed to the attack, stating that she believed the victim had stolen her boyfriend from her. The authorities have since charged her with attempted m*rder, and she awaits further legal proceedings.
