Welcome to another episode of our daily bible study, today’s episode is titled, do not enslave yourself. you can watch the video below.
Previously, we discussed the topic that says, learn to have fear of the Lord.
From the biblical passage we read in the last episode, we saw how the glory of God descended on mount Sinai. The sight terrified the Israelites. They feared for their lives, and begged Moses to speak to God on their behalf. Moses responded to them saying; do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you, to keep you from sinning.
We learned from that episode why we should have fear of God.
God wants us to fear Him, because fearing Him is to our own benefit. When you fear God and desist from harming your fellow man, there will be peace for both you and your fellow man.
Having fear of God shouldn’t be scary, it can be done out of love. If you have not watched that video, it is in the playlist, you can watch it after watching today’s episode.
In today’s episode, we will discuss the topic that says, do not enslave yourself. In the book of Exodus chapter 21 verse 2, God says; if you buy a Hebrew slave, he is to serve you for 6 years. But in the 7th year, he will go free, without paying anything.
So, here is the story, it happened that back in the olden days in Israel, when people go broke that they cannot afford money to take care of themselves, they can sell themselves to a wealthy man, who will buy them and they will become servants.
In their master’s house, they will be taken care of, however, they are still slaves. But after 6 years of serving their master, they will be free in the seventh year. But if they refuse to accept freedom, maybe because, their master is treating them well, then, a ritual will be performed, and after that, they will become slaves forever. Nevertheless, they still have the opportunity to regain freedom in the year of jubilee.
All these point to one thing, God does not want us to be slaves, He wants us to be free to serve Him. He wants us to be His servants. Therefore, if God does not want you to be a slave, then, do not make yourself a slave.
Stop seeing yourself as a victim of circumstances. Do not give yourself a slave’s mentality, stop being a slave to your past mistakes and misfortunes. Live like the aristocrat. Your creator does not want you to be a slave, so stop making yourself one.
Never allow anything to enslave you, material or whatsoever. Be whom you were made to be, you are the head and not the tail. God has ordained you a winner and not a loser. Imbibe this message of strength and go and make exploit.
May you never be a slave of anything, stay strong and remain blessed. May God’s mercies always be with you. May he make you the head and not the tail. Amen.
