The second dosage of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine was administered to President Muhammadu Buhari.
On Saturday, May 25, the president’s personal physician, Dr. Suhayb Rafidadi, administered the vaccine to him at his official residence, State House, Abuja.
Buhari received the first vaccine jab on March 6, when he was handed with his COVID-19 immunization card by Federal Ministry of Health personnel who oversaw the event.
According to Faisal Shuaib, executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the second vaccine will provide complete protection against COVID-19.
“We are recommending all Nigerians who have received their first dosage to check their vaccination cards for the date of their second dosage and ensure that they receive the second dosage to acquire full protection against COVID-19,” Shuaib stated.
This comes just a week after the federal government encouraged anyone who had gotten the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination to get a second shot.
